Pakistani loaches in hiding

Since my post my two original loaches have since died as did three of the four new ones One seemed to be settling in last night enjoying surfing the currents and I was hopeful that this was the beginning if a turn for the better. Hopefully it is the surviving one as I haven't found him yet. Anyone with suggestions will be most welcome. Water conditions seem optimal and I don't know what could be causing it. None seemed intimidated buy other fish

Pakistani loaches are hiding

I have recently acquired originally two Pakistani loaches. I found when I put them in the tank for the first two weeks they swam around getting used to the tank and other fish (5 small mainganos, 4bristlenose catfish and 4 kuhli loaches) they then began to hide and I went searching for them.I thenbought 4 more which were smaller in size hoping to entice them out but that didn't work as all they want to do is hide in the small space behind the filter even though there are plenty of hiding spaces such as caves ornaments and plants. Water pH is 7.5 and had a water change a couple of days before buying the last lot. The original two died today. What do you suggest?

Best loach ever

I have three yo yos and they are one of the most entertaining sociable fish I have ever kept, they will get to know you almost instantly. I can’t walk by their tank without them dropping what they are doing and coming to say hi. Definitely get more 3 at least and they will keep to themselves and stay pretty docile when it comes to other fish, such a cool fish. A wise choice...

great fun little fish

i have 3 of these guys in a tank full of cichlids a pleco, red tailed shark and a raphael catfish and they are the most playful fish i have owned. they usually just eat the same food as my cichlids as well as some alage wafers. mine are very active during the day and i have often seen them playing tag with each other. they are very bold and i have even witnessed my oldest one (over 3 years old) taking food out of the mouth of my red zebra cichlid

brand new -- today purchased a sm. yoyo

I made a common, from what I have read, mistake that newbies make. I floated him for 20 min. & put him in tank w/1 dwarf Gourami, 2 white cloud minnows, 4 gold neon Tetra, 4 neon Tetra, 2 harlequin Rasbora, 2 sm. Otto Catfish....should I remove him before he does any damage?

Yoyo joy.

I had two of these loaches but regretfully one jumped out and died. It's an open topped tank with a condensation cover but he managed to jump through the small gap. Will replace with another loach or two and keep tank covered.

Nutty li'l Buggers

Yoyo's are pretty placid if kept in a group. Never put a yoyo by itself with other fish, it will bully them eventually to death. I keep two but with ciclids if you are going to keep them in with goldfish or similar get a few more. They are nutty li'l buggers and will happily chase each other around all day, because of this also try to put loaches of similar size together.

Pakistan loaches

I have two Pakistan loaches. I have found eyes missing from my Mollies, could the loaches do this? Thanks.

Little Pest

My Yoyo Loach keeps eating all the tails off my other fish. I bought 2 albino catfish the other day and within 2 hrs off them being in the tank the Loach had a bite of 1 of their tails.

YoYo Love

I have owned 4 YoYo's for the past year now. They are incredibly playful and curious amongst themselves and the others in the tank. I own a swarm of loaches 4 Clown Loaches, 3 Dojo Loaches, 5 Black Kuhli Loaches along with the 4 Yoyo's. I would have to say the #1 rule in order to raise these fish is create a stimulating surrounding. Yoyo's need to have caves, ornaments, plants to interact and explore. If this is provided for your Yoyo's will be to busy exploring the tank and playing amongst themselves to bother the others in the tank. I would have to say that these guys are easily my favorite in my tank.

One Only! EEEK!

Many months ago, I bought a Yoyo to eradicate my 5 gallon tank of invasive snails (WOW-it WORKED!). Shame on the LFS for selling a novice this fish! I have since researched his needs, purchased a 45G tank and will be moving him in with more Yoyos to meet his needs. Lucky for me, and the Sailfin Molly in the tank with the Yoyo, they get along fine. Yoyos CAN be aggressive This is helping me to PROPERLY stock my new 45G tank. I will be more informed before purchasing fish. I DO HIGHLY recommend Yoyos-IF you take the time to provide for their needs. They aren't for everyone-but they are ENTERTAINING!!! :) (I now raise a few invasive snails in an old 1 gallon tank just for my Yoyo's dining pleasure!)

Reticulated Loach

I keep 2 of these in a 300L community tank with 52 other fish. There are long fin angel fish, different types of corys, lots of different bristlenose cats, and all sorts of other fish. I find the reticulated loaches the most facinating of all. They certainly have very strong personalities. The are almost like keeping a pair of puppies. Just love them. Never had any trouble with them bothering other fish. I think this is mostly because they have fast swimming clown loaches, red-tailed sharks and large siamese flying foxes to play with.

The more the better

Reading the responses; the # 1 rule in keeping loaches is that they are a very social fish; if you own one or 2 loaches they will try and become dominant over each other and all other other fish; it is best to keep 4 or 5 loaches minimum.

Yo-Yo Loach

I have a yo-yo loach who is very enjoyable. However he is a fin nipper. We had to relocate our beta as its fins were severely damaged by the loach. We have found that they only seem to be attracted to long flowing fins and otherwise leave their tank mates alone.
