Flash and Dottie
- So we just recently got our first fish tank, 10 gallons. We got an orange sail fin mollie (Flash) and a yellow sail fin mollie (Blondie). They were doing great at first with our 2 ghost shrimp, but then one morning when I went to feed them I noticed that Flash was not doing well. He was just bobbing on the surface and got really pail. Later that day I went to poke him with the net and he sprung back to life, and has been fine ever since. Then Blondie started to do the same thing so I just kept an eye on her and tried to see if the net trick might work. It did not, but while she was still alive she was just bobbing around and was very pale. When ever she would bob to the bottom Flash would race over to her and push her up to the surface. It was so sweet to see him caring for her. Then she died. We immediately got another mollie similar to Blondie. We named her Dottie. The minute we placed the bag in the tank, they were in love. Now they swim side by side all the time. Young love :)

- I had a Cremecickle sailfin (beautiful sail - gold with black trim) lyretail. Fortunately he bred with a female cremecickle, who gave birth to 30 odd babies and unfortunately he died the day after. I am hoping to have babies that will be just like him. Since then the other female cremesickle has had babies, at least 50 +. Plus my original silver mollie females babies are still in my 30 gallon tank. I know I will have to part with them soon. It's hard tho, as I have been bitten by the attachment bug. I love Mollies!! I am new to keeping fish as have only been into this since this last October (2011). In that 30 gallon tank, I also have swordtails and they all get along great. Very peaceful fish. I have blue swordtails and their babies that came out of no where as I have never had a male til recently - I just bought a male and female red velvet sword, but he is the only male introduced to aquarium. (I have -16 gallon -w/ honey gouramis / 40 gallon w/ a variety of freshwater fish

Sailfin Molly named Killer
- I have had mollies since I was a little girl. But I never had a sailfin before. We recently bought one, which the petstore said was an albino, although she's actually yellow with brown spots. I'll grant that she's PART albino. Fish (and birds) can be like that. The creepy red glowing eyes attest to that. Anyway, we got her for a breeding experiment. For a homeschool science fair experiment my eldest son wanted to cross breed a female molly with a male guppy to create "Gollies". We bought this one, which we named Salina, but have since renamed Killer. After having her for a month to establish that she was not pregnant, we bought the male guppy. She has killed two large applesnails, and the guppy, who we had named Erik. I don't know if she's mean because she's a sail, or because of the albino thing, or what. She killed Erik by grabbing him by his tale and shook him like a dog with a rodent in their mouth. We pulled him out of her enclosure but he died the next day.

Great Fish
- Mollies are one of my favorite types of fish. They're playful and social, love to chase food and interact with people on the outside of the glass. I'm not sure what the description here is referring to, but Mollies are incredibly easy to breed. Get more than one gender and you're sure to have dozens of babies in no time.

Sailfin Molly
- I have 14 (adult) Silver Saillfin Mollies, and they are wonderful! Of course, they keep having babies, so my tank is always full of various sizes of Mollies. I also have 2 Cremesicle Lyretails(both females) a Black Lyretail (female) and a Black Sailfin (male). I have found them all to be fun little fish, always begging for food and right at the tank glass whenever somebody comes by. Its great to see them as they grow (and learn that my hand means FOOD...no matter what I am doing in their tank, they think it dinner time and peck at me looking for their food!). They are just adorable! And they LOVE thawed frozen peas (squished and popped out of pea shell)!! Its hilarious to see a baby swimming around the tank with a piece of a pea it its mouth bigger than it is, with all the other little ones chasing to get that pea! Its a sad day in our home when we lose one to old age or when some go to new homes. But we love them all as much as our other pets/fish. Great for kids too!!
