From the article: Fish at School
With the beginning of each school semester comes the decision about what to take to the dormitory or classroom. Pets can make excellent companions in the classroom, and help college students feel less alone in their apartment or dormitory. Have you kept a fish? If so, would you recommend it for others? Fish Keeping of any sort can be a wonderful experience, but beware that they are living creatures the same as a dog or a cat and need looking after, a beutiful aquarium in anybodies home can enhance the looks of it if the right advice is given from the start by your supplier (beware of unqualified supplyers)

At UNH

I first bought my fish tank about a year ago for my single dorm at UNH. I just had 2 guppies and a cat fish and I loved to watch them when I got bored or too stressed out over my school work. Over the summer, I upgraded to a 5 gallon tank and added in 2 black mollies and a filter shrimp (that died a couple months into school and was replaced with a bushy-nose pleco). Now I live in a double with one of my friends and the both of us and whoever comes into our room enjoy the fish. They are really easy to take care of even for someone like me who has a really busy schedule. I highly suggest getting fish for your dorm if you want something to calm you down, to entertain you, or just as a nice addition to your room.
