Built a Better Fish Trap

Share Your Story: Aquarium Do It Yourself Stories

From Eric

What I Did:

Made a fish trap for catching many fish at one time, without dranning your tank.

How I Did It:

I used a 2 liter bottle. Cut the top off right where it starts to bend. Invert into the bottle. Add a little food inside. Fish can swim in but can't get out. Be sure to cut a little hole at the bottom side of the bottle as to let air out as you sink it to the bottom of your tank. In no time you'll have fish in as long as they can fit though the openning of the bottle.

Tips and Tricks

  • Work well when fish are hungry.

I like this DIY. It's simple and costs essentially nothing. It also would be less stressful for the fish than chasing them around with a net. I'll definately try it the next time I need to move fish.
