Recently, the mini aquariums have become popular amongst aquarists. I myself have a couple of these aquariums, and personally I prefer them to the larger aquarium setups.
They are easy to set up, and are great for breeding fish or keeping fish that do not get along with other species. They are also easy to keep clean and the water quality is often much better than the larger aquarium setups, provided that they are equipped with some living plants and that the substrate is kept clean. These tanks are also great for community tanks containing the smaller fish, because they are smaller one can put less fish in them, lessening the probability of having two species of fish which are incompatible.
These tanks are great for livening up the corner of a room, or for those people who love fish but do not have much space to keep them. Because they take up so little space one can fit several of them into the amount of space that one large aquarium would take up, which makes them good for breeding different species of fish or separating large groups of fry into smaller, more manageable groups. They are good for setting up a cheaper Marine Aquarium or low maintenance freshwater aquarium.
