Top 8 Fry Foods

By Shirlie Sharpe, About.com

Baby fish (fry) need special foods that are easy to digest, high in nutrients, yet small enough to eat. Live freshly hatched brine shrimp are the fry food of choice, but not always easily available. Here are some alternative foods made especially for fry.

1. Tetra Baby Food

Tetra Baby Food
Tetra offers two types "E" for egglayers, and "L" for livebearers. Both are well-balanced powdered food that can be feed to even the tiniest of fry. Although live foods are still ideal for most fry, this is a good alternative when live food is not available.

2. Hikari First Bites

Nutritionally balanced fry food, that can be consumed by even the youngest fry. Food can be soaked to cause it to sink rapidly for mid and bottom dwelling fry.

8. Wardley Small Fry Food

Packaged in a tube, Wardley offers two formulas for freshly hatched fry. One is for egg layer fry, and the other is for livebearer fry. Although called 'liquid' food, it is pasty and as a result, rather messy to dispense and clean up after.
