bog roots

By Shirlie Sharpe, About.com

Definition: Bog roots are the remains of roots after the outer parts have rotted away in a bog. Used in aquariums, they usually must be soaked before they will sink rather than float. The exception are bog roots from the Scottish moors, which sink right away.
