Acipinseridae

Definition: Acipinseridae are also known as the True Sturgeons. This family of fish displays primitive characteristics such as heterocercal tail fins and a continuous spiracle. They are found only in the Northern Hemisphere. This family includes four genera, and all varieties are prized as caviar.
