Maggots For Fish?

By January 21, 2013

Follow me on:

Maggots might not seem tasty to you, but few fish can pass them up, as this Betta owner can attest.

"I found some maggots today, and decided to see how my Betta fish "Bruce" would react. Not surprised at all he tore the maggot up within minutes after beating it up for a bit."

This time of year maggots may not be as readily available in colder climates, but they are worth looking for. Bait shops that stay open for winter fishing probably have some on hand, and in warmer climates they certainly will carry them. Here's why you might want to buy some maggots for your aquarium fish.
