An aquarium atlas is a great tool for any fish owner to have at home. A good quality atlas will be easy to navigate, written in verbiage that is easy to read and understand, and provides photographs as well as care information on a wide variety of aquarium fish.Generally I lean towards older books, because many of them were written by true masters in the aquarium field. However when it comes to an atlas, be aware that taxonomies are always changing, so older books may have out of date species names. The care and breeding information is still quite valuable, so don't automatically pass up those older atlases, especially if you can find inexpensive used ones.
