Aquarium Biological Aids

By December 17, 2012

Many people will be the fortunate recipients of a new aquarium this holiday season. Setting up a new aquarium is a lot of fun, but there are some challenges. Chief among them is the establishment of stable biological colonies that eliminate hazardous wastes in the tank. To give the 'Nitrogen Cycle' process a boost, the use of biological supplements is increasing in popularity. Some swear by them, others say they are waste of money. Based on my experiences and testing, as well as those of others, I believe that when used properly, biological supplements can significantly speed up the process. The key thing to remember is to test the water regularly, and monitor the health of your fish closely. That way if something goes wrong, you can take steps quickly to avoid fish loss.
