Aquarium Holiday Guide

The winter holidays are one of my favorite times of the year, because I invariably get to see family and friends that I haven't seen for a while. If you talked to my fish, they would have a different story to tell. To them this is the time of the year when their owner tends to neglect them, sometimes even forgetting to feed them a meal or two. It's not intentional, but with all the hustle and bustle of the holiday time, it is easy to let some things slide.

Before you send me an irate email about how mean I am to my fish, remember that Mother Nature doesn't provide three square meals a day. If your fish were living out in the wild, they would go hungry more than once or twice. In other words, an occasional missed or late feeding is no crime, and certainly will not harm a healthy fish. However, if you will be gone for an extended period of time, you should plan ahead to ensure the well being of your fish. Even if you are home for the holidays, it is wise to be prepared for power outages during cold weather.

To help make your holiday a bright one, I've put holiday care tips, emergency planning, as well as some gift suggestions, into a Holiday Aquarium Guide. As always, email me if you have questions that aren't answered in the guide, and may you have a wonderful season!
