Here's a whale of a tale for you. When doing filter maintenance I about jumped out of my skin when something sailed out of the filter, hit me in the face and landed on the floor. Imagine my surprise when I bent down and picked up a wriggling Coolie Loach, still very much alive. He'd gone missing weeks before, and I'd greatly mourned his loss, hoping by some miracle he was still alive in a hidden corner of the tank.Thank goodness he's still alive, although I'll always wonder how he got into that filter. Needless to say, if my Coolie survived inside a filter for weeks, the species is quite undemanding. If you are looking for an easy to care for fish to add to your community aquarium, this guy may be just what you are looking for. Although, I'd recommend keeping yours in the tank rather than the filter. Have you kept a Coolie Loach? If so maybe you have a great story or some tips to share.
