Anubias FlowerWithout a doubt, Anubias species are among the most indestructible of all aquarium plants. Even the most boisterous fish can't kill them, nor will they suffer from poor water conditions. In fact Anubias thrive on high phosphate levels, and they actually prefer tanks with moderate to low lighting. Needless to say, they are the aquarium owners dream plant.

The most commonly used species of the Anubias genus are the five varieties of Anubias barteri, which are: A. barteri var. angustifolia, A. barteri var. barteri, A. barteri var. caladiifolia, A. barteri var. glabra, and A. barteri var. nana. The last of these, is the very popular species often referred to as the Dwarf Anubias, or simply "Nana". If you haven't tried keeping Nana, maybe it's time to give it a try.
