Livebearing Fish Books

Livebearing fish are considered by some to be the 'mutts' of the fish world. Yet they remain one of the most popular choices among new fish owners, particularly for families with with youngsters just getting started in the hobby. Personally I find Mollies, Platies, Swordtails and even Guppies, to be lively, colorful and interesting fish that I would recommend to any new fish owner.

Although they are rather undemanding, it is wise to learn about their care and preferred habitat. There are a number of inexpensive livebearer books on the market that usually cost under fifteen dollars, and are worth the investment. If there is an aquarium club in your area, check with them before buying a book. Many maintain libraries, or at least have lists of books that members are willing to loan out.
