Betta Not Eating

Tuesday May 16, 2006
This Betta owner needs help enticing his Betta to start eating again. Do you have suggestions to share?

"Hello, my beta "Mikey the Fish' is almost two years old. He is always very feisty and very hungry and loves to eat. He practically jumps out of the water to eat his pellets. You know he is hungry when he flaps his fins furiously and points his nose to the surface anticipating food. But, for the past three days - he has been spitting his pellets out. He still anticipants his food but tries one or two and always ends of spitting them out. I take them out after a bit so as not to get the bowl dirty. Any insight on what's wrong with my little buddy? Maybe the fish is bored with the food? Try something else.

Hey, same thing happened to mine, if he is on a pellet diet, spruce it up with an occasional treat of Top Fin bloodworms, that will keep him happy! hope he does better!

Heyy..
I read an article on this topic already. Perhaps the bowl/tank is too cold. Betta fish cannot digest in cold teperatures. Try heating the tank under a light bulb or adding warmer water. Room teperature is sufficient for Betta fish. If that doesn’t work, ask the workers from the place where you got him, they should be able to help. Good luck :P

I think it may be because it’s reaching the end of it’s time. So sorry.

My daughter’s Betta “Jason” has been acting funny since his bowl was cleaned yesterday. He has been swimming sideways and moving very, very little. He has been spending a lot of time angled toward the top of the bowl. He is not eating. He doesn’t move if you tap the bowl, but has sudden spastic-like movements. Any thoughts? It has been 24 hours since onset. Thanks for any help you can give.

my betta hasent ate for the last 8 days….i got him after my other betta died. ever since i got this new one and brought it home he hasent ate one thing…im worried…im going to try to get him some blood worms and see if it works….i saw that if you buy a betta when it is spawing….he will go on a hunger stike and go into a deep depression and eventually die! i hope not….it sucks tring to get another betta that looks the same so my 5 year old daughter will not notice….its allready happened once, i cant take much more of this…she already asked why he changed colors…i told he it his summer coat!! luck to all!!!
