Goldfish Story

Here's a goldfish story you don't hear every day. Can you answer her questions? If so, post on the forum, or use the comment link below the story."Hi, my son found an abandoned backyard pond that someone dumped 2 quarts of car oil in that still had goldfish in it. He couldn't see the fish to catch them. Two days later he found that someone had drained the pond with the fish in it. So he brought the oil covered fish home to me :)
I have two questions, first I noticed when I drained the 20 gallon there was still an oil film in the water; how do I get rid of all of the oil. Second we would like to keep the goldfish. How many can I house in the 55 gallon? They are about 6 inches long. Is there anything else I should be aware of with them coming from the outdoors?"

hi… hope this is not too late… U can put paper on top of the oil lining… the oil should stick to the paper when you lift it from the water. Good luck on the gold fish.
ten gallons per fish as a rule of thumb
omg hope they die lol not xx goodl uck
goldfish arevery sensative and may die but well done if they dont…check their gils to check that hey have no oil stuck in them.bless…what will ya call em?
The goldfish should be alright in the 55 gallon tank. Worst case, you could separate them and put some in another tank if you’re convinced it’s too crowded, but you should be okay with just the 55 gallon.
For the oil, I’d suggest doing frequent water changes, and skimming any oil off the surface, since oil does float. Most types of goldfish are pretty hardy. Were there any dead fish in the pond?
Coming in from the outdoors, the goldfish might be a little skittish around people, or if the lights of the tank are on, but they should calm down. Do you pay attention to the pH? I’m assuming you do if you have two fishtanks.
How cruel of someone to pour oil in a pond, then drain it with fish still in it. I hope they live, and good job to you and your son!
hi~
are they coy?
check all of their fins to make sure there is no residue oil left.
How many fish?
and how many fish are already in the tank? so if their are coy in a 55 galon tank and there are alot of them them i think it WILL be too crowed to add more. The fish that you already have, what is their tank like… and ARE they in in the 55 gallon?
So did any ever die? What did ya call em?
i love fish i hope they live to bad for me my second fish died because he was nibling on the other fishes tail so make sure their not doing that.
im sure you have already found this out but you can house about 50 goldfish in the 55 gallon tank because the fish need a gallon each.
also i don’t think it would be safe to put the fish back in the oil tank because these fish need very high quality water. p.s. could you name one sam?
A gallon of space each? I don’t think so! Put NO MORE THAN FOUR in a 55-gallon aquarium, and get a high-quality filtration/aeration system if you don’t have one already. If you need to get more tanks or give some of the fish away to alleviate crowding, do it. Oh, and God bless you and your son for your compassion.
Ello, I’m not too sure, hmm, that’s something to think about!!!!
ello i jus wanna say you can fit in the number of fish that you want as long as they arnt cramped if it was me i would sell the big tank and get 2 or 3 smaller ones instead then this wouldent be a problem
50 fish in 55 gallon tank no way fish need space
