Evaporation

Friday November 18, 2005
Does the type of heat you have in your house affect evaporation? Join this discussion concerning tank evaporation ...

"I have a 69 gallon freshwater fish tank and it seems that every 2 to 3 days the level of water drops by maybe an inch. I guess its evaporation? Is it normal? Do I just refill that 1 inch of water?"

I witness this happening to my aquarium at least once a month. . I live in a one bedroom apartmaent and have a 29 gallon tank. Water usually goes down a couple of inches. I usually top it off adding water conditioner to it first of course. I guess I can consider this to be my parial water change each month.

Yeah! I have a 150 gal tank, and had to add 5 gallons of water in a matter of 3-5 days! I keep the 2 lids open a crack though, so maybe it’s attributed to evap? I have the same problem. Go figure?
