We started out with one, now we 6. Our oldest one-Sunshine-is 3yrs old and she is the nicest fish… if her tank mates are fighting she’ll dart right between them and break them up…she and Ed out Texas cichlid lays egg about every 4 months on a smooth shell the size of a apple. As soon as I see that they have been fertilized (the eggs are clear with black spot in them) I take the shell out and put it into its own 10 gallon tank. In that tank I leave the water level to about 8 gallons so there is good water movement from the filter flowing down. Any eggs that turn cloudy I remove with a ‘dropper’ like that comes with some children liquid medicine. well, I could ramble on all day…..LOVE THEM!!! would love to show pictures.. christine
